Grandpa

For the past five days, Tom hollars to me when he wakes up and is ski wompus on his bed. His legs are hanging down and I don't know how long he has been that way. It has been extremely difficult to get him up and then he is really shaky. (I've even had him sit on the edge of the bed and stamp his feet to wake them up). We manage showering & dressing, a quick breakfast (mostly he can't figure out how to feed himself and the meal ends up on the floor). When I get him to his chair to watch T.V. he instantly falls asleep. He won't open his eyes and seems to be hallucinating somewhat or dreaming out loud. When I get him down for a nap after a quick lunch, we repeat the same process all over again. His slurred gait is even more exaggerated and he has no depth perception. I have been trying to keep him hydrated, but he doesn't seem to know how to do anything. Any suggestions?

Love,

Mom

I can't believe that it has taken "this old dog" two months to make a second post on "my" blog. (Thanks to Monica, I had at least accomplished the basic set up. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo
here goes!
This morning I am watching the send off for Charlie Gibson on Good Morning America. (You can see that I don't get out much by the fact that I have actually shed tears at the departure of Dianne Sawyer and Chris Como this past week--now Charlie Gibson is also leaving the Nightly News--I may have a breakdown!)
I got Dad up, showered and partially dressed (depends & garment tops) and set him down to breakfast. While he was thus engaged, I slipped downstairs to have Erin give some instruction on the finer points of blogging. We heard Dad calling me, but I held out for one more pointer. As I headed up the stairs, I was greeted by my cute neighbor and Erin's visiting teacher, Valerie Olson. I'm sure she was cheated out of one year of growth as Dad answered the door in his nothings! Oh, Well--back to Good Morning America where everything runs a bit smoother!

Living It Up In Garland, Utah

On Saturday, Dad & I headed for Garland to see the Primary Program (Travis & Justin) and to just hang out. Quite amazingly, Monica helped me to create a blog and Justin taught me how to play SMESS--two things that I've been told I could never learn to do! Who says you can't teach and old dog new tricks?
